Ensembles
String Orchestra
Etowah’s string orchestra has been growing since it’s revamp a few years ago. This class meets every day during the curricular day and strives to learn and grow. We have a string coach that comes in to assist Mr. Long during the semester and we are able to all learn.
Intermediate Band
The intermediate band is for all incoming 9th grade students. This band helps to bridge the gap from middle school musical technique and the technique required for high school level literature. This ensemble meets every day during the curricular day.
Advanced Band
Advanced Band is designed for students 10th grade – 12th grade and uses those skills learned in middle school and intermediate band. This ensemble is for students continuing to work to improve their skills and pushes towards mastery. This ensemble meets every day during the curricular day.
Mastery Band
Mastery Band is for students who are showing mastery of their instrument and musical concepts needed for difficult high school music literature. This ensemble is for 10th -12th grade students who demonstrate this level of skill in a placement audition each spring. This is the top ensemble at Etowah High School and performs at the highest level. This ensemble meets every day during the curricular day.
Marching Eagles
The Etowah Marching Eagles is the athletic band and participates in parades, football games, pep rallies, and marching competitions. This is an extracurricular activity and enjoys participation from most students in the band programs at EHS. In addition to winds and percussion, this ensemble features the color guard unit along with their choreography and visual enhancements. If you are not a part of this ensemble and would like to be, email Mr. Long. For more information on this ensemble’s schedule click here.
Winter Guard
The winter guard program at EHS has been growing and developing quickly. We include a HS unit as well as a Cadet unit made of 6th – 8th grade students from E.T. Booth. This unit competes in the SAPA Indoor Guard circuit, meets from November – April, and is an extra curricular ensemble. Auditions for this group typically occur in November with competitions beginning in January. More information will be posted as we get closer to the season. If you have any questions about this ensemble contact Mr. Long.
Jazz Band
The EHS Jazz Band meets beginning in November and is an extra curricular ensemble focused on the medium of Jazz. Students experience everything from swing, to rock, to latin, to pop, and more. Students are encouraged to learn and audition for the district and state level jazz events.
